What made you decide to try coaching in the first place?
I had absolutely no idea what I wanted or where to start looking. I had changed career a few times from being an Audiologist, to a Merchandiser to a Dog Trainer, but it had always been though grabbing hold of an opportunity that came along, and not necessarily because I had set out to do that career. I felt lost and felt that this career change had to be the one that would last - so there was a lot of pressure.
What was life and work like before coaching? Can you describe to me your situation when we first met?
I was lost, frustrated and honestly depressed at my prospects. I was searching for random jobs online that would work with my young family, and I felt sick in my stomach at the thought of settling for them, but I didn't know what else to do or where else to go about looking.
What did you gain or learn through the coaching process?
I learnt to embrace this time in my life now. I had wild dreams as a child and young adult that would be hard now that I'm a mum to young children, but if I embrace this stage then I really can have the best of both worlds - being a present mum and having a career I enjoy and find satisfaction in. Also, who knows what the future holds, maybe when my kids grow up I can go after my wild dreams!
What outcomes have you experienced from coaching?
I've decided to become an Interior Stylist for brands and businesses. I've set a plan and a timeline and now I've got to get on with it.
I've also had a mindset shift, I'm much clearer in my goals (not just career, but my whole life goals) and I'm more aware of my ownership I need to take to make them happen.
What are you doing/plans now and how do you feel about it?
I doing an Interior Styling course, I've got paid work in local businesses that will help lay foundations of what I want to achieve, and I've set up a timeline of all the other things I need to do.
What advice would you give to someone who relates to your story and is thinking about coaching and a career shift?
Go for it! I feel so much clearer as a result and my whole future is better off for it. Its possibly the best investment I've ever made in myself.
Looking ahead, what are your hopes or goals for the future? How are you feeling about it?
My dream goal would be to style for beautiful interior magazines - that's my long term goal. But I'm excited about the journey to get there - I know its going to be fun and fulfilling! It will also require a lot of effort on my part, to keep going and to be resilient - I feel ok about that. I know its coming and I'm prepared.
